When there's a suspect in a crime and the evidence includes a handwritten note, investigators may call in handwriting experts. Handwriting experts check a lot of things at a crime like, notes, checks, and signatures. People have all different styles of handwriting, the different sizing in the lettering and the slanting and shapes of each letter. Document analysis is trying to find out if someone has changed a document. This comes down to the smallest of details. They may only change a few things in the document, such as a date or a signature. These people may try to change checks, birth certificate, and other types of legal documents. People make these changes to get money or direct someone to a different suspect. Handwriting analysis is when you look at different samples of handwriting and picking out similarities and differences. Forensic Scientist's use this to connect a suspects handwriting to a crime scene or evidence recovered. Everyone's handwriting is different in some way and this handwriting analysis technology can prove or disprove innocence in a criminal case.
